The Provisional Psychology Internship Program is open to all provisional psychologists on the 5+1 pathway and encourages applicants from First Nations and, culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) and individuals from underserved regions across QLD (MMM3-7).
First Nations refers to the original inhabitants of Australia, including both Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islanders, who are recognised for their unique cultural heritage, histories, and deep connection to the land and waters of Australia.
The term ‘CALD’ is used respectfully to refer to people living in Australia who were born overseas, or with parent(s) or grandparent(s) born overseas, in countries other than those classified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics as ‘main English-speaking countries’, this includes those from communities with diverse languages, ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, traditions, societal structures and religions.

Did you commence your internship after the 1st May 2024 averaging 30+ hours of psychological practice each week? Psychological practice includes both your direct client contact and client related activities. Important notice regarding supervision scholarships for provisional psychologists who have commenced their internship program If you are currently undertaking principal supervision with another provider and are successful in obtaining a supervision scholarship, please be aware that a new principal supervision arrangement will need to be commenced with Therapy Pro. Any costs associated with the transition of your supervision arrangement are not covered by the supervision scholarship.

If you are yet to commence your internship what is your estimated commencement date of your work role or internship?
MM slash DD slash YYYY
To estimate your internship completion date: Total hours required: 1,500, then divide by your weekly practice hours, and add your expected leave (usually 4 weeks) For example, if you start on May 1, 2024, working 34 hours/week, you'll likely finish in around 48 weeks, so by April 2025. We note that this is an estimate based on minimum required hours and is dependent on ratio of direct client contact to client related hours as well as completion of all relevant tasks within this time.
Psychological practice includes both your direct client contact and client related activities. A 5+1 Internship program requires that you undertake a minimum of 17.5 hours of psychological practice weekly.
