In the 20 years since gaining his initial undergraduate degree in psychology, Alex Baxter has applied the skills in different ways — as a community mental health support worker and a counsellor, working particularly with asylum seekers; in business and working for the NDIA, gaining insights into how the NDIS machine works.
“I’ve been struck by how a small change or a small positive can make a big difference,” Alex says.
Now Alex Baxter joins Therapy Pro Melbourne as a psychologist (provisional), available to work with children, adolescents and adults looking for emotional or behavioural change.
Alex carries out psychological assessments and develops tailored interventions to help clients address feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, anger, and stress.
He can also help with positive behaviour supports and emotional regulation, better communication and interpersonal skills, and improved self-confidence.
“Psychology provides options, and options give you choice. Those choices may be limited by circumstances, but they are yours.”
While English is the only language Alex officially speaks, he’s an ace jargon-buster when it comes to translating government documentation and NDIS plans.
Alex Baxter gained his Masters in Professional Psychology from the University of New England in 2021.
