Angela Allen’s decision to go to university in her 30s and become a psychologist was a life-changing case of ‘pay it forward’.
“I was the recipient of some great interventions, having sought counselling for some ‘stuff’ in life. It made a difference. It’s why I say, ‘change is always possible’.”
Angela Allen has worked as a psychologist for 16 years, mostly with teens and adults – male, female, and non-binary – with complex presentations, sometimes challenging behaviours, and often, histories of trauma.
She also has supported clients make sense of their feelings of anxiety, depression, grief, and stress.
“People’s issues are always important to them. That’s what matters. I’m about supporting mental health and wellbeing.”
As a Senior Psychologist, Angela carries out psychological assessments and develops therapeutic client-focused interventions.
She has a well-equipped tool-bag of therapies to draw on, including cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and narrative therapies.
Handcrafting and walking her dogs Charlie and Kandy are among Angela’s favoured personal forms of self-care for wellbeing.
Angela Allen is a Newcastle University graduate.
