Arlena Farley brings a richness of life experiences that have pivoted beautifully together for her role as a Therapy Pro occupational therapist.

A former kindergym and swim teacher, Arlena found parents of children with special needs turning to her to help improve their kids’ balance, coordination, and movement (along with confidence).

She nannied for—and loved watching—a child who had sensory processing difficulties thrive through early intervention.

When she enrolled as a mature age student at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Arlena continued to assist children with their daily living skills as a learning facilitator and respite carer.

She’s gone on to love working with adults and teenagers experiencing a range of conditions—from stroke and acquired brain injury to Autism Spectrum Disorder—helping them gain or relearn skills for greater independence. Her focus is on ‘adulting’ safely within their abilities to participate in activities most important to them and their families.

Arlena also grew up in a family business that designed kitchens and bathrooms: here she absorbed a practical and knowledgeable eye for functional universal design that she applies in her home modification assessments.

“All those experiences have taught me there is no one way of doing anything. We all learn differently and the ‘right way’ is the way that works for the individual,” Arlena says.

“I’m a glass half-full person—an optimist—and I love celebrating milestones with my clients, no matter how small.”

Whether you’re needing assessments and interventions for daily living functions— at home, work or school—or assistive technology assessments that may make your goals more achievable (and safe), Arlena Farley will be there for you, urging you on.
