Former disability support coordinator Carly Austen joins Therapy Pro Moreton Bay allied health team as a psychologist (provisional) with a passion for disability rights and positive mental health support that is as natural to her as breathing.

Carly grew up in a household in which the need for disability advocacy was an everyday fact of life.

“I’ve seen how supportive psychological services can make the world of difference – and it’s my chance to make that difference professionally now,” she says.

“You know you; I know about the mind, its functions and how it impacts behaviour: let’s work together to address what’s challenging you. I’ll catch you if you fall – and I’ll be the first to go ‘woohoo’ when you tell me you’ve got the skills to move on, alone, without me.”

Carly is available to work with child, adolescent, and adult clients, carrying out psychological assessments and delivering personalised therapeutic interventions, including counselling.

As well as developing positive behavioural support plans, Carly can help clients work through frustrations, anxieties, stress, grief, depression, and other emotional issues.

She brings hands-on professional experience supporting clients address and work through trauma.

Carly is a proud LGBTIQ ally.

Carly gained a Bachelor of Justice and Psychology (Honours) at QUT.
