Toowoomba-based Therapy Pro psychologist Emma Tippins is a passionate supporter of neurodiversity.

It’s seen in her approach to people and to therapy.

Depending on your interests, she’s as likely to challenge you to a board/video game, shoot a hoop, as she is to say, ‘let’s sit and talk about what’s going on’.

“The best engagement, I’ve found, comes when we adjust the modality or intervention to fit a client’s understanding, cognition and interests rather than forcing a client to fit a textbook process,” Emma explains.

Emma has worked in private practice since 2019, supporting child, adolescent and adult clients make sense of their thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and their place in the world.

She has particular experience with clients with intellectual disability and clients who are Deaf or hard of hearing/hearing impaired.

Emma identifies as hearing impaired.

A former disability support worker, Emma is available to work with child, adolescent and adult clients who present with anxiety, stress, depression, grief and other emotional regulation or behavioural issues.

She can carry out psychological assessments and implement tailored interventions.

Emma can develop behavioural support plans. She may also help with stress management and social communication.

Emma is a James Cook University graduate.
