Melbourne
Hazel Xie has worked as an occupational therapist (OT) since 2018, mostly with older adults fiercely wanting to retain their independence in their own home.
Joining the Therapy Pro Melbourne team, Hazel– who speaks English and Mandarin fluently – is available to assess child, adolescent and adult Therapy Pro clients and deliver tailored therapeutic interventions to help achieve goals independently, and safely.
OTs are daily life specialists who support a client’s ability to participate in activities of daily living (ADLs)— such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating—as well as functional mobility, community access and social activities.
“Practical everyday aspects of life really matter and make a difference to outlook and quality of life,” Hazel says
“You tell me your destination, and we figure out the best route together, me (and your loved ones) alongside you.”
Hazel has particular experience in prescribing appropriate assistive technologies and recommending home modifications to help maximise independence.
She is also a firm supporter of play-based early intervention and family-centred practice and is keen to explore telehealth as a means to deliver service.
Hazel Xie is a Monash University occupational therapy graduate.
