  • Fine motor skills development

Jules Poulton joins Therapy Pro as a senior occupational therapist who has helped children and teenagers develop everyday skills of living since 2008.

As well as assessing and developing activities of daily living (ADLs)— including but not limited to bathing, dressing, functional mobility, and eating — through to cognitive assessments, community access and leisure activities — Jules can recommend appropriate equipment and appliances, or home modifications.

Jules is committed to encouraging independence in her young clients and routinely approaches their skills development through play.

“Play is essential early learning,” she explains.

“Dress-ups may be opportunities to learn to do up buttons, zips or laces; a board game may be chance to practise following directions, or social skills or language. Therapy is serious play.”

Jules works closely with the whole family – and she’s adaptable, calling on different learning styles and approaches as well as recognising that there are days when plans need to change to meet what’s going on.

Jules has specialist training in trauma therapy and attachment and separation therapy.

She has worked across Australia and overseas with children who have physical, intellectual, cognitive, or mental health challenges or developmental delays.

Jules Poulton is a Latrobe University graduate.
