Martial arts practitioner Lisa Barnes swears by taekwondo as a way of letting off steam, sharpening focus, and building confidence.

She also knows those outcomes can be achieved when you talk to a trusted skilled allied health professional which is how come Lisa has joined Therapy Pro.

This former wellness coach, now a psychologist (provisional), has worked extensively with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, chronic stress, alcohol and drug dependencies and behavioural addictions.

She’s an experienced youth mentor too, particularly with teenage and young adult women.

As part of the Therapy Pro Brisbane North team, Lisa Barnes is available to work with clients of all ages who seek psychological assessments and tailored intervention programs, including counselling and positive behaviour support plans.

Lisa is the kind of person you’re likely to randomly open up to while waiting in a checkout queue or bus stop– and she appreciates that quality.

“It is a gift that people feel safe to connect with me on personal levels.

“Sometimes when we voice what’s on our mind, we realise we’re not alone in our situation and that can be a relief in itself,” she says.

Originally from Canada, Lisa undertook her psychology studies at the University of British Columbia, backing that up with Honours at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
