Since 1995, Lisa Lawrence has had the privilege of being a key part of a young person—and their family’s—life during times of transition, change and stress.

Lisa is an occupational therapist who views the world through a lens of possibilities, building on strengths and abilities.

“Occupational therapy is as unique as the child and the family I work with, reflecting their needs, wants, desires and goals. The common thread is the development of skills and independence,” she says.

Lisa Lawrence is available to work with Therapy Pro child and teenage clients, and their families, to help develop their abilities in activities of daily living (ADLs) as well as community access and social activities.

ADLs include aspects of selfcare (such as personal hygiene, dressing and mealtimes), playing, engaging in learning activities, and making friends.

She may also recommend appropriate equipment and assistive technologies that aid independence, safely.

Lisa comes to Therapy Pro with a strong background in supporting child and youth mental health, and more than a decade working in the education sector championing inclusion.

Lisa often uses play with her young clients. As she puts it, “play is a risk-free way to learn skills. When you enjoy doing something, you’re motivated to use those skills in other ways”.

Lisa Lawrence is a University of Queensland graduate.
