Mette Thomas has a simple professional goal: to make her clients’ lives better.

After more than 10 years in the disability sector in various capacities including behavioural support and as a local area coordinator (LAC) for NDIS, Mette Thomas joins Therapy Pro as a psychologist (provisional).

It has been, she admits, a long time coming – without a moment wasted.

Life experiences have taught her better than any textbook that challenging behaviours are rarely simply ‘bad’ behaviours.

“I’m a huge advocate for looking toward the environment to understand if there is something there, unsettling the client”.

“I’ll ask what can be changed to make life better, more functional and happier for you, and we’ll work towards making that happen.”

Mette is available to work with children and adults with disabilities supporting their emotional and mental health, undertaking psychological assessments, and delivering therapeutic interventions.

As well as developing behavioural support plans, Mette can help clients work through frustrations, anxieties, stress, grief, depression, and other emotional issues.

She can help develop coping strategies, relaxation techniques and social skills.

Mette is an ACU graduate.
