When you meet Michelle Hammond, she hopes her internal feeling of calmness is something you would like to connect to.
Michelle’s compassionate by nature and keen to make a difference, supporting the people that work with her to heal.
“I really want to help others ease and understand their stress and struggles and to learn how to better control what you can control. I do this by creating a safe space for healing, development and growth,” she says.
As a psychologist Michelle Hammond is available to work with children and adults with disabilities supporting their emotional and mental health, undertaking psychological assessments, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
Along with behavioural support plans, Michelle can help clients develop coping strategies, social skills, and stress management.
An experienced counsellor — both face-to-face and online — Michelle can help clients work through anxieties, low mood, behavioural issues, emotional regulation, and trauma.
She brings particular experience working with at-risk youths and young adults who had complex behavioural issues and needed support in learning effective communication, anger management, social skills, and life skills. That role taught Michelle how to keep a cool head in high-stress situations.
“We are all ‘works in progress’. I strive to be the best version of myself that I can be, and I’ll support you to be yours too. It’s not about perfection: it’s about having the skills to get the best from today, today.”
Michelle is a University of Queensland graduate working on her Masters of Psychology (Counselling).
