When occupational therapist (OT) Niala Ghaemi speaks of ‘empowering’ a client, she speaks from a perspective of faith in humanity that goes to her core.
“I truly believe that when a client is empowered, they feel confident and able within themselves to get to their goals. I provide the tools — the support — but the real magic is within them always.”
OTs are daily life specialists who support a client’s ability to participate in activities of daily living (ADLs) — such as personal hygiene, dressing, eating — as well as functional mobility, community access and social activities.
While this former disability support worker and long-time volunteer working with children is available to work with Therapy Pro child, teenage and adult clients, she finds a particular connection with young adults.
“We have a connection that comes with exploring ‘adulting’ together.”
Niala has particular interests and experience in supporting daily living activities, mental health and social inclusion and involvement.
Assessments and explanations of tailored therapeutic interventions can be conducted in English or Persian.
Niala Ghaemi gained her Masters in Occupational Therapy from the University of Queensland.
