As a Therapy Pro speech and language pathologist (SLP), Riley O’Connor-Horrill works with children and adults, assessing and treating challenges that impact communication, language development, social communication, emotional regulation, swallowing, mealtime management and literacy.

Riley has a particular passion for language, speech, and communication.

She’s dedicated her working life to helping others communicate to have their needs met.

“Language embodies far more than words, speech incorporates more than a mastery of sounds and communication is much deeper than sounds and words,” Riley says. “There are many different ways of being and doing.”

Riley retrained as a speech and language therapist after 20 years teaching English as another language, including many years living in Japan where she developed a love of karaoke.

It was a long way from her early childhood in the Cape York town of Bamaga.

Riley’s SLP career has included rehabilitation, helping clients relearn skills for speech and swallowing. She also has a strong background in working with dyslexia.

Riley is a keen listener, creating a space in which your needs are heard without judgement or assumptions.

“You are the expert of your life. My job is to bring knowledge and skills to you as we co-design a journey towards goals you’ve said are meaningful.”

Riley O’Connor-Horrill gained her Masters of Speech Pathology Studies at the University of Queensland.
