Brisbane North
Brisbane North Therapy Pro psychologist (provisional) Sam Courtney truly understands the importance of client-centred care.
“I was let down badly (by allied health professionals), and that motivated me to get better,” Sam says of her lived experience with an eating disorder.
“I promised I would become the professional I needed but didn’t have. I value and live and breathe client-centred care because I know how beneficial it can be.”
Sam, a former youth worker, has particular experience supporting teens and adults with severe and complex presentations.
“When someone’s case is complex and severe, it’s all the more rewarding to help them regain some control and choice in life,” she says.
Sam worked full-time in therapeutic residential care, supporting clients aged 17 and under with severe behavioural and mental health challenges, while completing her psychology studies.
As part of Therapy Pro’s Brisbane North team, Sam Courtney is available to work with clients of all ages, carrying out psychological assessments and tailoring interventions to meet goals.
This University of the Sunshine Coast graduate can help you work on emotional regulation, stress management, as well as improved social interactions and relationships, and work through trauma, grief, and anxiety.
Fascinating fact: Originally from New Zealand, Sam Courtney is in the Queensland over 30s women’s indoor cricket team.
