When Sarah Blakemore started work as an occupational therapist, she had no idea how useful her time as a conservation ranger would prove to be.

“I was used to recommending environments and particular tracks for tourists to undertake, guiding, directing and supporting hikers on their journeys, being mindful of accessibility: Now I’m still educating people about safety in their environment!

“As an OT, my clients seek to access different environments – home, community, school or work – and I assess environmental access. I enjoy problem solving and finding solutions, overcoming barriers.”

Sarah helps clients improve activities of daily living (ADLs)— from bathing, dressing, functional mobility, or eating through to cognitive assessments, community access and leisure activities —through assessment and appropriately tailored intervention.

Where necessary, she may also recommend appropriate equipment and appliances – or home modifications – to further support clients achieve their goals.

Sarah brings more than 15 years professional experience to Therapy Pro clients, having worked in New Zealand and Australia, in hospital and community settings, supporting adults with medical conditions or disability.

Her warm gentle approach developed while working as a boarding school supervisor, building strong trusting relationships with teenagers.

She’s a great believer in looking at what can be achieved ‘here and now’ and enabling clients to reach for goals, with maximum possible independence, safely.

Sarah Blakemore is keen to be a part of the Therapy Pro team making a positive difference in your life journey.
