Sonja Dawson’s varied working life, in many countries, has equipped her well to quickly absorb information, and understand challenges and context.

A psychologist, Sonja brings real-world experience in planning and implementing positive behaviour support plans and dealing with trauma.

She can help child, adolescent and adult clients with psychological assessments and interventions, behavioural support and advice psychometric testing and counselling.

Sonja can help clients better deal with depression, anxiety, depression, trauma or grief. Sonja also has a strong interest in supporting people who are transitioning through significant changes in their religious or cultural beliefs, helping them work through the impact that might be felt by the person and their family and friends.

A soccer fan —yes, she plays— Sonja is keen to help you focus on, and move towards, goals that are important to you.

She’s also a realist who can understand the perspective of parents and carers.

Sonja has worked extensively with children and teenagers in different roles over many years—as an early childhood educator and carer, disability support worker, a residential youth care worker and most recently, in practising psychology.

She has proven to be an effective ally for clients with challenging behaviours.

Originally from Germany, Sonja completed her undergraduate studies at Swinburne University of Technology and gained her honours from University of New England.

She speaks both English and German fluently.
