Zilia Mik is a psychologist and a firm believer in the relationship between mental and physical health and quality of life.

It frustrates her that some people still feel too ashamed or scared or embarrassed (or proud) ask for help relating to their emotions, behaviours and thoughts.

“We don’t think twice about going to a doctor with a broken bone so why is needing help with mental challenges different? It’s not! Very few will escape life without needing some help at some point,” she says.

Zilia has experience with the diagnosis of autism, intellectual disabilities, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, anxiety, depression and eating disorders.

She’s worked with clients with complex dual diagnoses, challenging and anti-social behaviours, and people with communication difficulties.

Available to work with clients of all ages in Melbourne’s south-west, Zilia can deliver counselling, assessments and therapeutic interventions in English or Russian.

She’s particularly passionate about supporting teenagers.

“Adolescence is tough without the challenges or stigmas of mental illness or disability,” she says.

Solutions-based, strength-focused therapeutic sessions with Zilia seek to find the right balance for a fulfilling life.

Zilia’s professional qualifications include a Masters of Counselling from Monash University and Masters of Professional Psychology from the Australian Catholic University.
