How I work

Get to know Jaimie S

How can you support people?

Jaimie’s role as a provisional psychologist is to help people work towards achieving the goals they wish to achieve. This may be through working with thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and using evidence-based practices to help get you on the path you are wanting to be on. At Therapy Pro, Jaimie works alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure they are using the most up-to-date evidence-based practices.

How does your background shape the way you work?

Before beginning their work at Therapy Pro, Jaimie worked for Autism Queensland as a lived experience consultant for the Autism and Mental Health Project where they developed and facilitated workshops on adapting and accommodating mental health practices for the support of autistic clients. This has shown Jaimie firsthand how important it is to stay up to date with the newest information while practicing, but also the importance of the voice of the community you are working with. Being neurodivergent themself, Jaimie believes listening to the individual and building rapport is the most important way to understand and to assist the client to reach their goals.

What is your approach to working with people?

Jaimie likes to bring a relaxed and friendly vibe to their work. Creating a safe and non-judgmental space where people can be themselves is paramount. They hope to assist individuals to grow by providing an inclusive and nurturing environment.
