Get to know Tamika P
A therapist session will focus more on functional restoration, this may consist of strengthening, performing the task a different way, using adaptive equipment, or modifying the environment to get the job done. This work helps the client to gain or regain independence, whether they are a child born with developmental delays, a worker with a spinal injury, or an older adult who has survived a stroke.
I want to help people regain their independence, take back their confidence and be advocates for their lives, all the while being beside them as an advocate and support. I have seen how not being given a fair go, or told ‘well that’s the way it going to be’ can have an impact globally on ones wellbeing from both personal and family experiences. This ignited a passion for encouraging and enabling others to pursue meaningful occupations.
Together, through client-centred and tailored evidence based practice we will work towards those goals all whilst not forgetting the small steps it takes to get there, and celebrating those too. I want to work where the work needs to be done to be as functional as possible, whether that be at home, the school the local stores, parks or station.
