Quote

How can you support people?

Sisa Alter’s role draws on both social work and Positive Behaviour Support frameworks to provide person-centred, rights-based support to individuals and families. She collaborates with psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, educators, and support coordinators who may be working with your family to understand the underlying needs behind behaviours of concern and works holistically to reduce barriers to participation and wellbeing. With a strong focus on dignity, inclusion, and capacity-building, Sisa Alter helps create sustainable, strengths-based strategies that align with each person’s goals and values.

How does your background shape the way you work?

Sisa Alter has worked in humanitarian settlement, mental health, and disability sectors, supporting clients across the lifespan from children and adolescents to older adults for over 13 years. Sisa Alter helps clients unpack their challenges, transforming cluttered, overwhelming issues into manageable, colorful pieces. Using a strengths-based and advocacy-focused approach, she fosters resilience and empowers clients to navigate their journeys with confidence and hope.

What is your approach to working with people?

Sisa Alter brings a warm, empathetic presence also grounded in a practical, goal-focused, and strengths-based approach. She walks alongside people living with disabilities, older citizens, refugees, and families as they navigate unfamiliar systems and uncomfortable life transitions. In moments of challenge or overwhelm, Sisa helps “hold the fort” offering advocacy, clarity, and hope. With deep respect for each person’s story, she gently empowers clients to build confidence, access the right supports, and develop the know-how to move forward with greater independence.
