Inclusive Support for Educators

Therapy Pro can provide support and guidance through coaching to early childhood educators that builds capacity and confidence, and helps remove barriers to operating an inclusive classroom for all children.

Therapy Pro works alongside your educators, shadowing them during the daily activities of the centre, to provide coaching in the children’s natural environment. This approach allows the room dynamics to be observed, and strategies provided in real time to educators that focus on specific goals and the identified needs of the classroom.

The strength of our transdisciplinary team provides the combined knowledge of a psychologist, social worker, speech and language pathologist and an occupational therapist, to collaborate with your team, to provide coaching that is specific and individualised to your centre.

Classroom support can be provided by:

  • identifying current strengths and successes across learning spaces and building on these approaches to extend and enrich play spaces, play opportunities and engagement;
  • coaching educators in adapting their current styleto best support the children to participate in routine and special activities;
  • introducing ‘whole of classroom’ approaches and activities to improve key ‘pain points’ in the curriculum i.e. transitioning from outdoor play to indoor play; starting and finishing snack/lunch time; mat/circle time; table top activities; rest and sleep time;
  • modelling new strategies in real time during activities (in both group and 1:1 settings)
  • introducing visual supports that will promote development, and guidance on how to use these in the classrooms where appropriate;
  • support to identify where additional resources such as equipment and aids may be suitable to enhance inclusion and ensure safe lifting and handling practices for educators.

 Our team is skilled at building the knowledge and confidence of educators to support children with:

  • emotional regulation and identifying and managing big feelings like anger, sadness, frustration (including identifying the feelings of themselves and others);
  • developing social skills (initiating play, responding to invitations to join in, asking for help, taking turns, forming connections);
  • communicating with confidence (developing speech and sound, understanding language and using words and other mediums such as visual supports to share their ideas);
  • fine and gross motor skills (including self-care and play skills); and
  • engagement in the classroom (participating in activities, following routine, building independence, transition between activities).

Positive Behaviour Support Practice Enhancement l Restrictive practices and positive behaviour support

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission sets high benchmarks for service providers and has substantial powers to take action where they believe these standards are have not been met.

The changes regarding restrictive practices and positive behaviour support are significant and will require most service providers to undertake major reforms of existing processes and practices.

Providers need to understand their requirements and act decisively to ensure they meet the new requirements and retain registration.

Therapy Pro understands how the new Quality and Safeguards system affects organisations at leadership, professional and support worker levels. We offer a range of tailored consultancy, training and support options to meet the needs of every organisation.

Please contact us if:

  • you are a leader or manager who wants to truly understand and meet your organisation’s responsibilities around restrictive practices and positive behaviour support;

  • you want to support a team of therapists to learn how to develop positive behaviour support plans that deliver outcomes and align with the requirements; or

  • you want your direct support workers to understand their responsibilities in recognising restrictive practices and implementing positive behaviour support plans.

We would love to talk to you about what these changes mean for you, and any other areas where you have concerns or see opportunities for improvement.

Please get in touch to enquire about our pricing and how we can work with you.

Specific Topic Training l Mealtime management l Manual handling

Therapy Pro provides training for organisations wherever there is a need for technical expertise that reduces risks to people receiving services and to workers.

Our training is collaborative and interactive, and focused on achieving behaviour change in attendees – not just providing them information. Prior to delivering a session we will work with your organisation to understand your specific needs, service delivery challenges and priorities. This allows us to incorporate key messages into the session that mean the training content is more effectively embedded into practice once attendees leave the session.

Our clinicians can provide training to individuals or groups on:

  • mealtime management for people with dysphagia (swallowing disorders);
  • manual handling; and
  • other bespoke training to meet your organisation’s needs.

Contact us now to plan your staff training.

Clinical Supervision and Coaching

Clinical supervision is an essential tool in supporting therapists to maintain professional registration, deliver excellent outcomes, plan work effectively and remain connected with the mission and meaning in their work.

Investing in clinical supervision can drive staff retention, increase your organisation’s capability and productivity and ensure you are meeting your quality and safeguarding requirements.

Our supervision services:

  • are provided by skilled clinicians who are also experienced supervisors;
  • are delivered via Skype or phone so we can support you wherever you are located;
  • are delivered according to our unique Supervision Framework which incorporates coaching and conversational techniques to deliver consistent, powerful results; and
  • provide structure and clear expectations to ensure supervised therapists are well prepared to get the most from each session.

We can also provide de-identified reporting on trends and themes emerging within supervision. This reporting assists organisations to identify areas of concern and pressure points that contribute to challenges in performance and efficiency.

As well as supervision, we also provide:

  • coaching and change management to help organisations who wish to grow their internal capacity to deliver supervision
  • group supervision and practice support for clinicians which can be used to target specific practice areas or assist in the resolution of complex practice challenges (and counts for therapists as professional development!)

Our supervision products are available in packages of as little as 10 hours. We also offer progressive discounts for larger blocks of hours. Please get in touch with us to enquire about our pricing and how we can work with you.
