A Senior occupational therapist at Therapy Pro in the Melbourne team, Allan is all about hope and making the best of what we have in life.

“I help people become the best version of themselves possible,” he says.

“The power is with the individual: it’s their life, their disability. I’m here to support them in any number of ways to get ahead.”

Allan uses a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy alongside occupation focused interventions, to work with children and adults to improve their wellbeing and independence.

As an accredited Mental Health Occupational Therapist, Allan can complete mental health functional assessments and can provide wellbeing support to people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges, specifically as it relates to their disability and independence.

At Therapy Pro, Allan works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide wrap around support for people with complex needs, and can develop positive behaviour support plans and provide upskilling to support staff to encourage ongoing engagement and implementation.

Allan is a registered Medicare provider and can complete assessments for ASD diagnosis or assessment which can assist families to access the NDIS.

More broadly as an OT, Allan is also a daily life specialist who supports people to improve key relationships and daily living functions—bathing, toileting, dressing, eating, walking—as well as school, workplace and community involvement.

He has a particular interest and experience in supporting clients with physical disability or injury, psychological conditions or a combination, transition to work.

Allan also can help clients with aids and equipment assessments and may make recommendations for minor modifications at home to improve independence and safety.

Solutions-based in his therapy approach, Allan believes in emphasising strengths and abilities rather than weaknesses or struggles. In building resilience, good situations can be built on and repeated.

Allan is a James Cook University graduate.
