My name is Cameron and I am a registered psychologist.
I have worked in many sectors, including business management, disability services and adult education for the past 25 years, until I recently became a psychologist.
As a result, I bring a solutions focussed approach to my psychology work. I became a psychologist to help people. I see going to a psychologist as a strength and not a weakness.
It takes courage to ask for help and asking for help is the first step to recovery.
I live and work in a regional/rural area and as a result, I have a good understanding of people in these regions, their hardships, and struggles.
I am easy going and I find it easy to interact with people. I build rapport quickly and am very down to earth.
While I do use scientific, peer-reviewed, evidence-based interventions, I deliver these in an easy to understand way, without scientific jargon.
I find things in common with my clients, to start as a base, then go from there. I have a wide range of interests, but above all, I find people interesting. I have learned to use active listening techniques, that show I am listening, understanding and acknowledging the person. I have a strong sense of curiosity and humour.
