How a Therapy Pro occupational therapist can help

Occupational Therapists – also known as OTs – are daily life activity specialists.

Our goal is to enable people of all ages and abilities to do the things they need and want to do in all aspects of life: to participate more in the ‘everyday’ and realise greater independence.

This means more than hobbies, interests and socialising – although those are important and definitely on our radar at Therapy Pro.

Occupational Therapy includes all aspects of life including taking care of yourself and others, working and volunteering. For example, we may:

  • help children achieve developmental milestones such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
  • work with children with autism to improve their sensory processing to help them perform daily activities
  • minor modifications at home
  • teach and support daily living skills in the home and local community
  • assess and prescribe adaptive equipment to help with showering and toileting, sleeping, kitchen and household chores, dressing, eating and moving around (e.g. walking aids, wheelchairs and scooters)
  • identify ideal housing needs, including supports for an individual to attain independent living
  • develop coping strategies for clients in overcoming their mental health challenges
  • improve a person’s confidence and self-esteem in social situations.

Therapy Pro’s OTs are practical professionals. We’ll consider all aspects of your life and your goals, looking at challenges you may face doing certain activities – we call them ‘occupations’ – and working with you on solutions that enable you to realise the meaningful, connected life you want.
